What is Safe Sport?

Safe Sport is a program designed to prevent abuse and misconduct in sports by promoting a culture of safety, respect, and accountability. Overseen by the U.S. Center for SafeSport and authorized by the U.S. Congress, it provides training, reporting mechanisms, and policies to protect athletes – especially minors – from harassment, bullying, and abuse. It is required for all organizations within the U.S. Olympic and Paralympic movement to ensure consistent safety standards, compliance with federal laws, and a positive environment where athletes can excel without fear. By implementing Safe Sport, the Olympic movement prioritizes athlete welfare and fosters trust in the sports community.
